Ian Anderson will be commemorating the 40th anniversary of his Jethro Tull album Thick As A Brick.
The No 1 Billboard Chart-topping Thick As A Brick album from 1972 will be played in its entirety, for the first time since its original tour. There will of course be some of the Jethro Tull hits thrown in for good measure.
The Thick As A Brick album will be performed as per the original recording, with a few surreal and humorous theatrical interjections. This high production tour will include special guests alongside Ian’s band and incorporate video projection in the show.
Jethro Tull are usually found sharing the same delicatessen shelf as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Rolling Stones and the other worthy stalwarts of the British ‘Rock Invasion’ of the seventies.
But it is all too often forgotten that a large part of the Tull repertoire is, in fact, acoustic music, whether whole songs or sections of the blockbusters such as ‘Thick As A Brick’ and ‘Aqualung’. As the self-professed “unplugged guy with a bunch of noisy friends” Ian Anderson commands much respect as an acoustic musician amongst his peers.
With a band consisting of German guitar virtuoso Florian Opahle, and pianist/accordionist John O’Hara, Ian will play Tull acoustic classics as well as other specially-rearranged Tull songs, and new material.
